NingXia Red - the World's Most Powerful Antioxidant Juice
NingXia Red (pronounced: ning - sha) is one of Young Living's most popular nutritional products and for good reason, it tastes great and is off the charts when it comes to overall nutrition, antioxidants, SOD, ORAC, and S-ORAC. If you're looking for an energy juice or sports drink without caffeine, stimulant herbs, no junk juices, and is low-sugar, NingXia Red is an excellent choice.
NingXia Red is a naturally delicious nutrient-infused wolfberry (goji berry) juice that nutritionally far exceeds all other 'red' juices on the market. NingXia Red's claim to fame is in the quality of its ingredients. The natural certified organic wolfberries used to make the puree come only from the NingXia Provence in China. The NingXia Provence is a remote pristine area, famous for its superior wolfberries. The NingXia wolfberry is jam-packed with vitamins, minerals, amino acids, polysaccharides, antioxidants, and more, often described as nature’s "magic bullet."
They all claim to be the best, so what makes NingXia Red so much better and different?
The simple answer is the quality of the ingredients and the way they are processed. Let's take a closer look...
NingXia Red combines the finest whole Ningxia wolfberry puree, blueberries, pomegranate, apricot, raspberries, red grapes, and lemon and orange essential oils. It's the synergy of ingredients that help to make NingXia Red stand above all the others, as seen in the results from Brunswick Labs.
When ORAC became popular, around 1968, many companies started manipulating the test by using isolated, or manufactured, ingredients that were of questionable health benefit and we still see this manipulation today. These 'added' ingredients spiked the ORAC score of their juice.
On this label of a popular juice you can see these are junk juices, and there is no way that these junk juices (i.e., sugar) add up to a nutrient dense superfood. Certainly you have also seen those types of ingredients on other juice labels. Reading labels will help to determine if advertising claims actually live up to what's in the bottle.
There is further good news to help make smart choices, SOD (superoxide dismutase). The SOD activity of a juice shows a much more accurate light on a juice's nutritional value, as is seen in the following chart (SOD results cannot be manipulated by manufactured ingredients). The SOD test measures superoxide scavenger activity. These results are based on scores from Brunswick Labs, SOD scores between NingXia Red, Xocai, Ageless Xtra, Xango, Tahitian Noni, G3, Himalayan Goji, Frequent Sea, Via Viente, Vibe, Goyin, Sibu - Balance, and Mona Vie (PDF). You can also very safely assume that all other juices do not hold a candle to NingXia Red either.
Why be concerned about free radicals?
Stresses, ailments, inflammation, and aging are hastened by free radicals that attack the cells in our bodies every minute of everyday. The superoxide scavenging activity in NingXia Red can help prevent free radical damage - we can have the upper hand by drinking 1-4 ounces a day of NingXia Red.

Are all Wolfberries (goji berries) created equal?
Sadly, they are not. There are 17 different species of wolfberries (Lycium barbarum) and depending on the species and the location where they are grown can make a huge difference in nutrient value. In recent years, many drinks have appeared that contain wolfberry (goji) juice but something happens between the field and the bottle, the nutrient content is diminished further. So even if other companies start out with a nutrient dense wolfberry the nutritional content goes way down due to the handling and processing of this wonderful tiny berry.
When a bottle of NingXia Red reaches your hands it is still bursting with excellent natural flavor and contains the specially handled wolfberry 'puree' - not an over-processed juice. Young Living uses a processing technique called "Nutritent Guard" which captures the natural goodness of the NingXia wolfberry, which includes the water-soluble plant pigments that give them their unique reddish-orange color: flavonoids, carotenoids, polyphenols, and anthocyanidins. Rich in antioxidants, the therapeutic benefits of these compounds are carefully preserved in this proprietary procedure and are guaranteed in every bottle of NingXia Red.
"While wolfberry can grow in many different locations, it is important to understand that the research found in this booklet was conducted on wolfberry (Lycium barbarum), which originated in Ningxia, China. Although there are actually 17 different species of wolfberries, the Ningxia wolfberry is the most nutritionally dense, and the most researched and tested wolfberry on the market." ~ Hugo Rodier, MD The Superior Ningxia Wolfberry: A Powerful, Natural Ally Against Disease and Aging
"Both the mineral profile and mineral balance of the Ningxia wolfberry is without equal in the plant kingdom, with magnesium to calcium ratios at almost 1:1, zinc to copper ratios at 2:1 and potassium to magnesium ratios at 8:1." ~ Gary Young, Ronald Lawrence MD, PhD, and Marc Schreuder Discovery of the Ultimate Super Food
